Native Flower Company Newsletter

Issue #9

Hello Flower Friends! Sorry this April newsletter is a little late; we’ve been attending to a flood of requests for wedding proposals. Events are BACK, big-time. Also beginning to flow are local farm flowers. Beautiful specialty tulips are arriving twice-weekly, as well as anemones and ranunculus. The ranunculus are truly a wonder, so hearty and strong. By the end of the month, we expect to see a number of new varieties to add to our bundles and designs. See you on the corner!

Heading into a whirlwind season of events, I want to begin with gratitude for all our clients who have entrusted us with their special occasions. We put immense time and consideration to every event, and we want to bring our top game. I also respect and cherish my staff, and don’t want to burn them out. Which is why, for the first time in my career, I have cut off weddings through October 30th. Setting this boundary is terrifying (florists are pleasers; we HATE to say no!), but I can’t give my all to each event, there is disappointment on all sides. Our goal is to create a season of gorgeous events leading to happy clients, pleased venue managers, and a rested and nourished team. This is also the reason we are offering a “limited” selection of Mother’s Day designs. DON'T PANIC. We will have a ton of arrangements ready for delivery and pickup. But WE WILL RUN OUT, by design, in order to preserve our sanity and to ensure that all our customers have a good experience and receive quality service and product. Thank you for understanding!

Meet Artist Linda Dalton Walker

When we called for entries for an art piece to accompany our March subscription bundle, Linda Dalton Walker answered. Her striking painting of a cobra lily (below) was delivered on a pretty postcard to all our subscribers. A Salt Lake City artist and photographer, Linda’s award-winning paintings have been shown throughout the west and are the pride of many collectors from coast to coast. A University of Utah graduate, Linda also studied under a renowned Italian trained instructor.

A talented photographer, she was awarded Photographer of the Year 2020 by the Wasatch Camera Club. Her work is an offering of Utah’s deserts, bird refuges, and macro images of nature. Recently Linda's travels to Hawaii, Scotland, and Italy have broadened her collection.

We met Linda years ago when we began carrying greeting cards of her flower paintings. She is a fellow flower lover and we hope you explore her work!
